Role Overview: Secondary Art Teacher
As the Secondary Art Teacher, you will deliver engaging and thoughtful visual arts instruction to students at Key Stage 3, IGCSE, and A-Level (or equivalent). You will help students explore a variety of artistic media and techniques while encouraging originality, conceptual thinking, and cultural appreciation. The role includes curriculum planning, managing studio spaces, and integrating art history, contemporary themes, and global perspectives into your teaching.
Responsibilities
- Deliver engaging lessons that align with the Cambridge curriculum in Art and Design
- Introduce students to a wide range of materials, styles, and techniques
- Foster creativity, critical thinking, and visual literacy in students
- Provide regular and constructive feedback to support student growth
- Prepare students for IGCSE and A-Level Art assessments
- Organize exhibitions and art showcases to celebrate student work
- Collaborate with colleagues and contribute to school-wide initiatives and events
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Art Education, Fine Arts, or a related field
- Valid teaching qualification (e.g., PGCE, QTS, or equivalent)
- Minimum two years of teaching experience, preferably in an international school setting
- Strong knowledge of the Cambridge or similar international curriculum
- Excellent communication and classroom management skills
- Ability to integrate technology and digital tools into the art curriculum
- Commitment to professional development and collaborative practice
- Fluent in written and spoken English
