Role Overview

The ideal candidate is a motivated and experienced individual to fill the role of Secondary Economics Teacher. This specialist position demands a dedicated educator who can effectively design, manage, and deliver engaging, high-standard lessons across various secondary levels.

Key Responsibilities

• Plan and teach high-quality, rigorous Economics units across Key Stage 4 and A-Level. Align instruction strictly with the Cambridge IGCSE and A-Level syllabi requirements and Charterhouse’s academic standards.
• Develop and execute strategies that promote advanced economic thinking, strong interpretation of data, sophisticated essay writing, and strong examination technique essential for success in external assessments.
• Embed Future Ready skills utilizing current events, case studies, and debate to promote critical thinking, and informed decision-making.
• Assess student learning consistently using formative and summative tools, strictly aligned with examination requirements and marking schemes. Provide timely, constructive feedback to drive measurable improvement.
• Collaborate consistently with department colleagues and the Head of Faculty on curriculum planning, moderation, resource development, and student progress monitoring.
• Maintain a safe, highly organized, and positive classroom environment conducive to rigorous academic discussion, data analysis, and shared economic discovery.
• Actively participate in professional development sessions and proactively contribute to curriculum enrichment and wider school initiatives.
• Use new technologies and diverse learning resources to enhance the quality of teaching and learning for all students.

Qualifications

• Education: Hold a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Economics, Finance, Secondary Education (Economics focus), or a closely related quantitative field.
• Certification: Possess a valid teaching license or official certification (QTS, PGCE, or equivalent) specifically for Secondary teaching.
• Experience: Demonstrate a minimum of 3 years of hands-on experience teaching Secondary Economics, with significant, verified experience teaching Cambridge IGCSE and A-Level Economics being mandatory.
• Curriculum Knowledge: Show strong, demonstrated knowledge of the IGCSE and A-Level Economics syllabi and their assessment requirements.
• Skills: Maintain excellent classroom management and superb communication skills.
• Language: Be highly proficient in spoken and written English.
