Role Overview
As a Secondary English Teacher, you will teach English Language Arts to students in Grades 7–12, helping them develop strong reading, writing, speaking, and analytical skills. You will deliver engaging lessons that align with the Alberta curriculum and IB standards while preparing students for academic success beyond high school.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver dynamic and interactive English lessons that encourage critical thinking
- Plan, assess, and report on student progress to guide learning strategies
- Support students in developing advanced literacy and communication skills
- Integrate digital tools to enhance classroom learning experiences
- Collaborate with colleagues to create a rich, interdisciplinary curriculum
- Communicate regularly with parents to support student development
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in English, Education, or a related field
- Valid teaching license or certification (e.g., QTS, PGCE, or equivalent)
- Minimum three years of relevant teaching experience
- Familiarity with the Alberta curriculum and/or IB programme
- Strong classroom management and communication skills
- Commitment to ongoing professional development
- High proficiency in spoken and written English
