Hangzhou CIS is a one-year residential program designed for Year 10 students from the Chinese International School (CIS) in Hong Kong. Located on the scenic campus of Greentown Yuhua School in Hangzhou, China, this program offers students a rare chance to experience immersive Chinese language and culture while continuing rigorous academic study in English. The curriculum fosters global competence, independence, and intercultural fluency.
Role Overview: Secondary English Teacher
As the Secondary English Teacher, you will inspire students to explore literature, develop strong writing skills, and build confidence in their critical thinking. You will create a classroom environment that encourages curiosity, reflection, and effective communication. Your role will involve teaching across various genres, guiding students through literary analysis, and supporting their academic and personal development.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and deliver engaging English language and literature lessons
- Differentiate instruction to meet diverse student needs
- Foster a supportive, respectful, and inclusive classroom culture
- Collaborate with colleagues to integrate interdisciplinary themes
- Assess student work using clear rubrics and provide timely feedback
- Support advisory and residential life activities
- Encourage a love of reading and lifelong learning
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in English, Education, or a related field
- Valid teaching credential (PGCE, QTS, or equivalent)
- At least 2 years of relevant teaching experience at the secondary level
- Familiarity with international curricula such as MYP or IGCSE preferred
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong classroom management and organizational abilities
- Passion for cross-cultural learning and international education
