Role Overview: Secondary English Teacher
As a Secondary English Teacher, you will teach Key Stage 3 and IGCSE English Language and Literature courses, with potential for A-Level instruction. You will guide students in critical thinking, effective communication, and literary appreciation. Your role involves creating a student-centered classroom that nurtures analytical writing, creative expression, and active discussion.
Key Responsibilities
- Teach English Language and Literature at lower and upper secondary levels
- Design engaging lessons that align with the Cambridge curriculum framework
- Assess student progress through written and oral tasks, exams, and projects
- Inspire a love for reading, writing, and discussion in diverse learners
- Collaborate with colleagues on interdisciplinary projects and school events
- Maintain strong communication with students and families
- Support extracurricular activities related to English or the Humanities
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in English, Education, or a related field
- Valid teaching qualification (PGCE, QTS, or equivalent)
- Minimum two years of teaching experience, preferably in an international or Cambridge curriculum school
- Excellent classroom management and communication skills
- Fluent in spoken and written English
- Familiarity with international education and culturally responsive teaching
- Tech-savvy and innovative in lesson delivery
- Strong interpersonal skills and commitment to professional growth
