Role Overview: Secondary English Teacher
As a Secondary English Teacher, you will deliver engaging lessons in literature, language, and writing. You will help students develop strong communication skills and cultural literacy while preparing them for international higher education. Collaboration with colleagues and involvement in curriculum planning and co-curricular activities are essential aspects of this role.
Key Responsibilities
- Teach English Language and Literature to secondary students using engaging, student-centered methods
- Design and deliver creative units that develop analytical reading and writing skills
- Differentiate instruction to support diverse learners and language proficiencies
- Use formative and summative assessments to monitor student progress and guide instruction
- Integrate educational technologies to enhance learning experiences
- Collaborate with colleagues on cross-curricular projects and interdisciplinary units
- Participate in school events, clubs, and professional development initiatives
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in English, Literature, Education, or a related field
- Valid teaching certification (e.g., PGCE, QTS, teaching license)
- Minimum 3 years of relevant teaching experience, preferably in an international or bilingual school
- Familiarity with international curricula such as IGCSE, IB, AP, or A-Level
- Strong classroom management, communication, and interpersonal skills
- Fluency in English (spoken and written)
- Tech-savvy and open to using digital tools in instruction
- Proactive, reflective, and committed to continuous professional growth
