Role Overview

The ideal candidate is a motivated and experienced individual to fill the role of Secondary English and Psychology Teacher. This specialist position demands a dedicated educator who can effectively design, manage, and deliver engaging, high-standard instruction.

Key Responsibilities

• Plan and teach high-quality, rigorous Secondary English and Psychology courses, focusing heavily on IGCSE and A-Level preparation. Align instruction strictly with the relevant examination board specifications (e.g., Cambridge or Edexcel).
• Develop and execute engaging lessons that promote critical analysis of texts, research skills in social sciences, and strong written and verbal communication.
• Assess student progress consistently using formative and summative tools relevant to the exam boards. Provide timely, individualized, and constructive feedback to drive measurable improvement across both subjects.
• Collaborate consistently with colleagues across the Humanities, Social Sciences, and English departments on curriculum vertical alignment and resource development.
• Maintain a positive, highly organized, and professional classroom environment conducive to active discussion, debate, and intellectual rigor.
• Be independent, self-motivated, and proactive in enriching the curriculum and developing wider school initiatives.
• Ability to use new technologies to enhance the quality of teaching and learning for all students.
• Ability to communicate effectively with students, colleagues, and parents, and to build strong relationships with the school community.

Qualification

• Education: Hold a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in English, Psychology, or a combination/related field (e.g., Comparative Literature, Educational Psychology).
• Certification: Possess a valid teaching license or official certification (e.g., QTS, PGCE, or equivalent) specifically for Secondary/High School teaching.
• Experience: Demonstrate a minimum of 3 years of hands-on experience teaching Secondary level, with significant, verified experience teaching both IGCSE and A-Level English AND IGCSE/A-Level Psychology being mandatory.
• Curriculum Knowledge: Show strong, demonstrated knowledge of A-Level English and Psychology content and the rigorous expectations of the British international curricula.
• Skills: Maintain excellent classroom management and superb communication and collaboration skills.
• Language: Be highly proficient in spoken and written English.
