Role Overview

The ideal candidate is a motivated and experienced individual to fill the role of Secondary ICT Teacher. This specialist position demands a dedicated educator who can effectively design, manage, and deliver engaging, high-standard lessons across Key Stage 3 (Digital Literacy/Computing) and the Cambridge IGCSE ICT syllabus. You will directly lead the planning and implementation of the Secondary ICT curriculum, ensuring students build strong foundational skills in data handling, digital communication, hardware/software concepts, and are thoroughly prepared for the IGCSE external examinations and practical tasks.

Key Responsibilities

• Plan and teach high-quality, rigorous ICT units across Key Stage 3 and IGCSE levels. Align instruction strictly with the adopted British National Curriculum and Cambridge IGCSE syllabi requirements and CRIS’s academic standards.
• Develop and execute strategies that promote strong computational thinking, effective application of common software packages (e.g., spreadsheets, databases, presentations), networking concepts, and essential examination technique for IGCSE success.
• Assess student learning consistently using formative and summative tools, strictly aligned with IGCSE examination requirements and practical assessment criteria. Provide timely, constructive feedback to drive measurable improvement.
• Collaborate consistently with department colleagues and the Secondary Head on curriculum planning, moderation, resource development, and student progress monitoring.
• Maintain a safe, highly organized, and fully operational computer lab environment, ensuring network stability and software currency.
• Actively participate in professional development sessions and proactively contribute to curriculum enrichment (e.g., coding clubs, robotics) and wider school initiatives.
• Use new technologies and diverse learning resources appropriately and creatively to enhance the quality of teaching and learning for all students.
• Build strong, communicative relationships with students, colleagues, and parents, supporting the school’s community focus.

Qualifications

• Education: Hold a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in ICT, Computer Science, Information Systems, Secondary Education (ICT focus), or a closely related field.
• Certification: Possess a valid teaching license or official certification (QTS, PGCE, or equivalent) specifically for Secondary teaching.
• Experience: Demonstrate a minimum of 3 years of hands-on experience teaching Secondary ICT/Computing, with significant, verified experience teaching the Cambridge IGCSE ICT syllabus being mandatory.
• Curriculum Knowledge: Show strong, demonstrated knowledge of the Cambridge IGCSE ICT curriculum and its assessment requirements (Theory and Practical).
• Skills: Maintain excellent classroom and lab management and superb communication skills.
• Language: Be highly proficient in spoken and written English.
