Role Overview
The ideal candidate is a highly motivated and experienced individual to fill the crucial role of Secondary Math Teacher (teaching students typically aged 11-18). This specialist position demands a dedicated educator who can effectively design, manage, and deliver engaging, standards-based lessons across the middle and high school math sequence.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and teach high-quality, rigorous Mathematics courses across Secondary grades (6-12). Align instruction strictly with American curriculum standards (including topics like Algebra, Geometry, and Calculus).
- Develop and execute strategies that promote advanced problem-solving, logical reasoning, and the practical application of mathematical concepts in real-world scenarios.
- Assess student performance and development consistently using formative and summative methods. Provide constructive, detailed feedback to students and parents to drive measurable improvement.
- Maintain a safe, highly organized, and positive classroom environment conducive to mathematical discourse and exploration.
- Collaborate effectively with Secondary colleagues, the Head of Department, and leadership on curriculum mapping, resource development, and student welfare initiatives.
- Utilize educational technologies strategically (e.g., graphing software, online tools) to enhance mathematical visualization and instruction.
- Actively participate in professional development sessions and proactively contribute to curriculum enrichment (e.g., math clubs, academic competitions) and wider school initiatives.
Qualifications
- Education: Hold a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mathematics, Secondary Mathematics Education, or a closely related quantitative field.
- Certification: Possess a valid teaching license or official certification (QTS, PGCE, US State Certification, or equivalent) specifically for Secondary Mathematics.
- Experience: Demonstrate a minimum of 3 years of hands-on experience teaching Secondary Mathematics, ideally within an international school setting or a US-based Secondary program.
- Curriculum Knowledge: Show strong, demonstrated knowledge of US-based Secondary Mathematics curriculum standards (e.g., Common Core, State Standards).
- Skills: Maintain excellent classroom management and superb communication skills.
- Language: Be highly proficient in spoken and written English.
