Role Overview

The ideal candidate is a motivated and experienced individual to fill the role of Secondary Mathematics Teacher. This specialist position demands a dedicated educator who can effectively design, manage, and deliver engaging, high-standard lessons across Key Stage 3 and the Cambridge IGCSE Mathematics (Core and Extended) syllabi. You will directly lead the planning and implementation of the Secondary Mathematics curriculum, ensuring students build strong quantitative foundations and are thoroughly prepared for the IGCSE external examinations.

Key Responsibilities

• Plan and teach high-quality, rigorous Mathematics units across Key Stage 3 and IGCSE levels. Align instruction strictly with the adopted British National Curriculum and Cambridge IGCSE syllabi requirements and CRIS’s academic standards.
• Develop and execute strategies that promote strong quantitative reasoning, logical deduction, effective use of calculators/technology, and strong examination technique essential for IGCSE success.
• Assess student learning consistently using formative and summative tools, strictly aligned with IGCSE examination requirements and marking schemes. Provide timely, constructive feedback to drive measurable improvement.
• Collaborate consistently with department colleagues and the Secondary Head on curriculum planning, moderation, resource development, and student progress monitoring.
• Maintain a safe, highly organized, and positive classroom environment conducive to problem-solving, mathematical discovery, and collaborative exploration.
• Actively participate in professional development sessions and proactively contribute to curriculum enrichment (e.g., math clubs, competitions) and wider school initiatives.
• Use new technologies and diverse learning resources appropriately and creatively to enhance the quality of teaching and learning for all students.
• Build strong, communicative relationships with students, colleagues, and parents, supporting the school’s community focus.

Qualifications

• Education: Hold a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mathematics, Secondary Mathematics Education, or a closely related quantitative field.
• Certification: Possess a valid teaching license or official certification (QTS, PGCE, or equivalent) specifically for Secondary Mathematics teaching.
• Experience: Demonstrate a minimum of 3 years of hands-on experience teaching Secondary Mathematics, with significant, verified experience teaching the Cambridge IGCSE Mathematics syllabi being mandatory.
• Curriculum Knowledge: Show strong, demonstrated knowledge of the Cambridge IGCSE Mathematics curriculum and its assessment requirements.
• Skills: Maintain excellent classroom management and superb communication skills.
