Role Overview: Secondary Music Teacher
As the Secondary Music Teacher, you will inspire and guide students across Key Stage 3, IGCSE, and A-Level (or equivalent) in music theory, performance, and appreciation. You will nurture students’ musical abilities through classroom instruction, ensembles, and performance opportunities. The role includes curriculum planning, directing student productions and concerts, and integrating music technology and global perspectives into your teaching.
Responsibilities
- Deliver engaging and rigorous music lessons aligned with the Cambridge curriculum
- Teach music theory, composition, performance, and music history
- Lead ensembles, choirs, and musical groups
- Prepare students for IGCSE and A-Level Music assessments
- Organize concerts, recitals, and school-wide music events
- Foster creativity, cultural appreciation, and artistic confidence
- Collaborate with colleagues on interdisciplinary projects and school initiatives
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Music, Music Education, or a related field
- Valid teaching certification (e.g., PGCE, QTS, or equivalent)
- Minimum two years of teaching experience, preferably in an international school
- Familiarity with the Cambridge or a similar international curriculum
- Strong classroom management and communication skills
- Experience using music technology and digital tools
- Commitment to ongoing professional development and collaborative practice
- Fluent in spoken and written English
