Role Overview
The Secondary Music Teacher will design and deliver a comprehensive music program that enhances students’ creativity and performance skills. You will be responsible for planning engaging lessons, directing school ensembles, and fostering both an appreciation and understanding of music across genres. This position requires a teacher who can balance classroom instruction with opportunities for performance and collaboration.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver engaging music lessons aligned with the Cambridge curriculum
- Teach music theory, composition, and performance across secondary levels
- Organize concerts, recitals, and school music events
- Lead and mentor student ensembles, choirs, and instrumental groups
- Foster creativity, discipline, and confidence through music education
- Differentiate lessons to meet the needs of diverse learners
- Incorporate technology to enhance teaching and student engagement
- Assess and monitor student progress with constructive feedback
- Collaborate with colleagues to integrate music into wider school initiatives
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Music, Music Education, or a related field
- Valid teaching license or certification (QTS, PGCE, or equivalent)
- Minimum of 3 years of teaching experience, ideally in an international setting
- Familiarity with Cambridge or other international curricula
- Strong knowledge of music theory, performance, and pedagogy
- Excellent communication and classroom management skills
- Enthusiasm for teaching in a multicultural environment
- High level of proficiency in spoken and written English
- Ability to inspire students and foster a positive learning environment
