About the Role
The SEN PE Teacher will design and deliver a dynamic Physical Education program tailored to the needs of neurodiverse students in Years 1 through 9. In addition to teaching PE, the teacher will support Science instruction, particularly at the lower secondary level. This dual-subject role provides a chance to positively impact students’ physical development, motor skills, health awareness, and scientific curiosity.
Key Responsibilities
- Teach Physical Education using inclusive, multisensory, and adaptive teaching strategies
- Plan engaging PE lessons that develop coordination, fitness, teamwork, and confidence
- Deliver Science lessons at the Preparatory or Lower Secondary level, focusing on hands-on, inquiry-based learning
- Develop and implement Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) in collaboration with the support team
- Monitor and assess student progress in both PE and Science, adjusting instruction to meet individual goals
- Integrate therapeutic strategies and collaborate with occupational, speech, and behavioral therapists
- Foster a safe, respectful, and motivating learning environment
- Maintain strong communication with parents regarding student growth and well-being
- Participate in school initiatives, extracurricular activities, and professional development opportunities
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Physical Education, Science, or a related field
- Valid teaching certification (e.g., QTS, PGCE, or equivalent)
- Minimum of 3 years’ teaching experience, ideally in an SEN or international school setting
- Proven ability to support students with learning differences
- Strong understanding of the British curriculum
- Effective classroom management and excellent interpersonal skills
- High proficiency in spoken and written English
- Passion for inclusive education and student well-being
