Role: SENCO (Special Educational Needs Coordinator)
As the SENCO at MISB, you will lead the provision for students with special educational needs and learning differences across all key stages. You will identify students who require additional support, develop individualized education plans (IEPs), and coordinate interventions in collaboration with teachers, parents, and support staff.
Key responsibilities include monitoring student progress, providing targeted strategies, delivering staff training, and ensuring compliance with relevant education policies and frameworks. You will serve as an advocate for inclusive education and help maintain a supportive learning environment where every student can thrive.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Special Education or a related field
- Valid teaching certification (QTS, PGCE, or equivalent)
- At least 3 years of experience in a SENCO role or similar position
- In-depth knowledge of learning disabilities, behavioral interventions, and inclusive classroom strategies
- Familiarity with the British curriculum and SEN Code of Practice
- Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills
- High proficiency in spoken and written English
- Ability to work collaboratively with students, families, and colleagues
- Proactive and committed to continuous professional development
- Confident in using technology to track progress and support learning
