This school is based in Marondera, Zimbabwe and is looking for a Speech & Language Therapist.

Main Responsibilities:
  • Promote communication as central to the school culture, integrating a communication-informed approach across all curriculum areas, including positive behavior support.
  • Develop the communication skills of individual pupils through collaborative assessment and support.
  • Formulate, implement, review, and evaluate communication targets for pupils based on their individual needs.
  • Plan, deliver, and evaluate interventions, adapting input according to the unique needs of pupils.
  • Write concise and clear Speech and Language therapy reports to contribute to annual reviews.

 

Supporting Pupils and Families:
  • Work primarily in the classroom while maintaining flexibility to provide individual or small group support as needed.
  • Provide guidance to families on supporting the communication needs of their children and address communication issues at home.

 

Supporting School:
  • Contribute to the school Support Team, participating in meetings to discuss pupil and family support needs and developing plans and interventions.
  • Assist with the admissions process by conducting initial assessments and aiding in transition planning.
  • Attend various meetings, including Annual Reviews, internal reviews, and multidisciplinary meetings.
  • Support staff training to enhance understanding and practice across the school and wider education services.

 

General:
  • Adhere to school policies and guidelines, including Safeguarding, Health and Safety, and Positive Behavior Support.
  • Assist with play/leisure time/lunchtime supervision of pupils as needed.
  • Contribute to school self-evaluation and the meeting of objectives within the school development plan.
  • Maintain confidentiality in all areas of work.
