It follows the Cambridge International Curriculum, preparing students for IGCSE and A Level or IB Diploma pathways.
Role: Biology Teacher
As a key member of the Science department, you will deliver a comprehensive Biology curriculum that cultivates students’ scientific curiosity, analytical reasoning, and problem-solving abilities. You will teach Biology from Year 6 up to IGCSE and A Level or IB Diploma and prepare students for their first IGCSE Biology examinations in May/June 2027.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver engaging Biology lessons aligned with the Cambridge International Curriculum and The Perse School ethos
- Plan and implement effective lesson strategies for diverse learners, including EAL students
- Regularly assess student progress using formative and summative assessments
- Foster cross-curricular continuity by collaborating with Junior School Science teachers
- Teach a second science subject (e.g., Chemistry, Physics, or Computer Science) to Key Stage 3 or 4 where needed
- Act as a Form Tutor, supporting students’ personal development and wellbeing
- Maintain strong communication with parents about academic and pastoral progress
- Use educational technology to enhance classroom engagement and learning outcomes
- Lead or support science-related extracurricular activities such as STEM clubs, projects, or competitions
- Pursue continuous professional development and contribute to departmental improvement
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Biology or a related science field
- Valid teaching qualification (QTS, PGCE, or equivalent)
- At least 3 years of teaching experience, including experience with IGCSE or equivalent
- Strong command of spoken and written English
- Proven skills in classroom management and differentiation
- Proficiency in integrating digital tools into science education
- A collaborative, proactive, and inclusive teaching style
- Enthusiasm for working in a multicultural, international school setting
