Role: Teacher of Computer Science

The ideal candidate will design and teach a forward-thinking Computer Science curriculum that develops computational thinking, coding proficiency, and problem-solving skills. You will teach students from Year 6 through IGCSE and A Level or IB Diploma, with the first IGCSE cohort expected to sit their exams in 2027.

Key Responsibilities

• Teach Computer Science to students in Key Stages 3 to 5 using engaging and interactive methods
• Prepare students thoroughly for IGCSE and A Level/IB Computer Science examinations
• Integrate Python, Java, and other modern programming languages into classroom instruction
• Collaborate with Junior School staff to ensure progression from early coding and robotics courses
• Contribute to teaching a second STEM subject such as Mathematics or Physics, if required
• Enhance learning with digital tools, coding platforms, and educational technologies
• Lead extracurricular clubs such as coding, robotics, hackathons, or cybersecurity events
• Foster a positive learning environment that meets the needs of all students, including EAL learners
• Communicate effectively with students, parents, and colleagues
• Support students as a Form Tutor, encouraging their personal and academic development
• Participate in continuous professional development and share knowledge with the wider team

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field
• Recognised teaching qualification (QTS, PGCE, or equivalent)
• At least 3 years of relevant teaching experience, including IGCSE or equivalent syllabi
• Proficiency in Python, Java, and educational technologies
• Strong understanding of computing education and curriculum planning
• Excellent classroom management and communication skills
• Commitment to inclusive teaching and lifelong learning
• Ability to work collaboratively in a multicultural school environment
