Supply Teacher, Dubai English Speaking College, United Arab Emirates

This school is based in Dubai, United Arab Emirates and is looking for a Supply Teacher.

Position Overview: Dubai English Speaking College (DESC) is seeking dedicated and adaptable Supply Teachers to join our team. As a Supply Teacher, you will provide high-quality teaching and support in the absence of regular classroom teachers. You will be responsible for delivering lessons across various subjects and age groups, ensuring a seamless learning experience for students. This role requires flexibility, strong classroom management skills, and the ability to engage students in meaningful educational activities.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Classroom Instruction:

   • Deliver pre-planned lessons in a variety of subjects and year groups, ensuring continuity in students’ education during teacher absences.
   • Adapt to different classroom environments and teaching styles, maintaining the standards of instruction expected at DESC.
   • Engage students through interactive and effective teaching methods, fostering a positive learning atmosphere.
2. Classroom Management:
   • Maintain discipline and ensure that students adhere to school policies and guidelines.
   • Create a respectful and inclusive classroom environment that supports student learning and well-being.
   • Address any behavioral issues promptly and in accordance with school protocols.
3. Student Support:
   • Provide academic support and guidance to students as needed, helping them understand the material and complete assignments.
   • Monitor student progress during lessons and provide feedback to the regular class teacher.
   • Ensure that all students are actively participating and staying on task.
4. Collaboration and Communication:
   • Liaise with other teachers and school staff to ensure a smooth transition between regular and supply teaching.
   • Communicate effectively with students, parents, and colleagues regarding student progress and any concerns that arise during your time in the classroom.
   • Participate in staff meetings and professional development opportunities as required.
5. Adaptability and Flexibility:
   • Be prepared to teach a wide range of subjects and adapt quickly to changes in the daily schedule.
   • Show willingness to take on different teaching assignments, sometimes at short notice.
   • Stay informed about the school’s curriculum and teaching standards to provide consistent and effective instruction.

Qualifications and Experience:

• Bachelor’s degree in Education or a related subject.
• Teaching qualification (e.g., PGCE) is preferred.
• Previous experience as a teacher, preferably in an international or British curriculum school.
• Strong classroom management skills and the ability to engage students across different age groups.
• Flexibility and adaptability to work in various teaching environments and subject areas.
