This school is based in Cape Town, South Africa and is looking for Teaching Assistants.

The International School of Cape Town (ISCT) is dedicated to providing a nurturing and stimulating environment where children can flourish academically, socially, and emotionally. We are seeking passionate and dedicated Teaching Assistants to join our team and support the learning and development of our students.

Position Overview: We invite applications for the role of Teaching Assistant, an individual whose strengths lie in good verbal and written communication, and who is energetic, enthusiastic, and innovative. The successful candidate will have a passion for working with children and supporting their learning and development.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist class teachers with classroom responsibilities and academic tasks.
  • Facilitate small group learning under the guidance of the class teacher.
  • Provide support in classroom management and creating a conducive learning environment.
  • Assist with Aftercare duties between 14:30 and 17:00, supervising and caring for students.
  • Support Aftercare students in extracurricular activities.
  • Maintain a safe, nurturing, and inclusive environment for children.
  • Demonstrate commitment to collaborative teamwork within a diverse environment.
  • Exhibit flexibility and adaptability as part of a dynamic team.
  • Show initiative and take decisive action when necessary.
  • Uphold the school’s values and mission in all activities.

 

Qualifications and Experience:
  • Preferred background in teaching, but not currently studying.
  • Experience working in a Primary school environment, including Aftercare.
  • Strong classroom management skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated commitment to teamwork and collaboration.
  • Openness to learning and receiving guidance from colleagues.
  • Strong organisational, interpersonal, administrative, and computer skills.
