This school is based in Zurich, Switzerland and is looking for a Chief Human Resources Officer.

The Inter-Community School Zurich (ICS), the oldest international school in the Greater Zurich Area, is renowned for the community it has created over the past six decades. Located in the picturesque village of Zumikon near a beautiful Nature Reserve and just 10 km from Zurich’s old town, ICS is an IB World School dedicated to creating a supportive learning environment.

Position Summary: Secondary Substitute Teachers at ICS are essential in maintaining the continuity of the educational process when regular teachers are unavailable. Substitute teachers are responsible for ensuring their practices inside and outside the classroom align with the school’s educational philosophy. They will work across various subjects in the Middle Years Programme (MYP) and the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IBDP), fostering a positive, collaborative culture while supporting the social and emotional well-being of students.

Specific Responsibilities:
  • Teaching Responsibilities:
    • Teach MYP (Grades 6 – 10) and IBDP (Grades 11 – 12) classes in subjects such as:
      • Mathematics
      • Science
      • German A and B
      • Individuals & Societies
      • English
      • Physical and Health Education (PHE)
      • Design Technology
      • Visual Arts
      • Performing Arts
    • Demonstrate effective classroom management that acknowledges the academic, social, and emotional dimensions of learning.
    • Use technology to enhance learning experiences.
  • Collaborative Responsibilities:
    • Contribute positively to the collaborative culture of teams by being an engaged participant in team and Secondary School meetings.
    • Liaise with the Head of Department and IB Coordinators to ensure programme requirements are met within the classes taught.
  • Student Support:
    • Support the social and emotional well-being of the students in their classes.
    • Provide a safe, supportive, and nurturing learning environment for all students.

 

The Successful Candidate Will Have:
  • Bachelor’s degree.
  • Current classroom teacher qualification to teach at the Secondary level (PGCE or equivalent teacher training).
  • Minimum of 4 years of recent and relevant Senior School classroom experience.
  • Experience in an international school environment is advantageous.
  • Knowledge and experience with the IB Diploma and Middle Years Programmes are advantageous.
  • Excellent English communication skills.
  • Experience in teaching learners with diverse needs.
  • Strong classroom management skills.
  • Empathy and social skills.
  • A valid Swiss work permit.

 

Terms and Conditions:
  • The contract will be on an on-call basis, with generous salary conditions commensurate with the importance of the position.
