Role Overview: Chemistry Teacher (Cambridge IGCSE)
The Chemistry Teacher will teach lower and upper secondary students, preparing them for success in the IGCSE Chemistry examinations. This role requires a strong understanding of subject content, the ability to engage learners through practical experiments, and a commitment to fostering a love of science. The teacher will also contribute to curriculum planning, assessment design, and extracurricular science activities.
Responsibilities
- Plan and deliver high-quality Chemistry lessons aligned with the Cambridge IGCSE syllabus
- Design and supervise lab experiments that promote hands-on learning and inquiry
- Use data to monitor student progress and adjust teaching strategies accordingly
- Collaborate with colleagues on curriculum development and cross-disciplinary projects
- Support student participation in science fairs, clubs, and academic competitions
- Maintain a safe, inclusive, and intellectually stimulating classroom environment
- Communicate regularly with parents to support student development and achievement
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Chemistry, Science Education, or a related discipline
- Teaching certification (e.g., QTS, PGCE, or equivalent)
- Minimum of 3 years of experience teaching Chemistry at the secondary level
- Strong knowledge of the Cambridge IGCSE curriculum
- Excellent classroom management and communication skills
- High proficiency in spoken and written English
- Technologically proficient, with the ability to integrate digital tools into teaching
- Motivated, reflective, and committed to continuous professional growth
