Role Overview
The Elementary Social Studies Teacher will guide students in exploring history, geography, civics, and cultural studies. The successful candidate will design engaging lessons that encourage inquiry, critical thinking, and an appreciation of diverse perspectives. This role requires collaboration with colleagues across disciplines, fostering meaningful connections between social studies and other subject areas.
Key Responsibilities
- Teach elementary-level social studies aligned with U.S. Common Core standards
- Develop creative, inquiry-based lessons that inspire curiosity
- Foster cultural awareness, respect, and global perspectives in the classroom
- Monitor and assess student progress with constructive feedback
- Create an inclusive and supportive classroom environment
- Collaborate with faculty on curriculum planning and cross-disciplinary initiatives
- Engage with parents and the school community to support student learning
- Contribute to extracurricular activities and whole-school events
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Education, Social Studies, or a related field
- Valid teaching license or certification (QTS, PGCE, or equivalent)
- Minimum 3 years of teaching experience in a similar role
- Familiarity with international curricula and inquiry-based learning
- Strong classroom management and communication skills
- Highly proficient in spoken and written English
- Enthusiasm for teaching in a diverse international community
- Ability to integrate technology into teaching and learning
