This school is based in Singapore, Singapore and is looking for a Special Education Teacher (High School).

 

Position Objective:

Join the Student Support Department (SSD) as a highly qualified Special Education Teacher, specializing in high school intervention. Apply your expertise in delivering individualized intervention and supporting students with diverse needs. Utilize the Multi-Tiered System of Support (MTSS) Model to provide Tier 3/intensive intervention, curricular modification, and explicit instruction.

Responsibilities:

  • Promote and safeguard the welfare of students, adhering to Cognita Safeguarding policies.
  • Deliver effective individualized intervention using data-driven decision-making.
  • Collaborate with educators, service providers, and parents to enhance student independence.
  • Establish positive relationships with students, families, and teachers.
  • Coordinate services with Occupational Therapists, Speech-Language Therapists, and Student Support Teachers.
  • Manage student behavior for a safe and optimal learning environment.
  • Regularly assess student progress, modifying instruction and curriculum as needed.
  • Serve as a case manager for students receiving Tier 3 support services.
  • Maintain confidential and updated student files.
  • Coordinate meetings with parents, teachers, and internal/external service providers.
  • Provide consultation for academic and social/emotional skill development.
  • Participate in multidisciplinary teams and offer ongoing support to accelerate student growth.
  • Collaborate with service providers on and off-campus to maximize student impact.
  • Offer professional development to the wider school community.

Position Requirements:

  • Minimum of 3 years of special education experience with relevant qualifications.
  • Exceptional interpersonal communication and professional collaboration skills.
  • Demonstrated flexibility, strong work habits, and a positive attitude.
  • Strong organizational skills and excellent command of the English language.
  • Proficiency in using computers and technology.
  • Strong references and attendance record.

Qualifications: Required:

  • Current Special Education Teaching Certification from an accredited institution.
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in a special education department.
  • Previous experience and/or training in recognized screening and progress monitoring assessments. Preferred:
  • Knowledge and experience delivering Tier 3 support services within an MTSS Model.
  • Training/experience in recognized Tier 3 intervention programs and assessments.
