Role Summary:

Tema International School is seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated Biology Teacher to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering high-quality instruction in biology to students across various grade levels. This role offers an exciting opportunity to engage students in hands-on learning experiences, foster scientific inquiry skills, and inspire a lifelong passion for the biological sciences.

Responsibilities:

• Develop and implement engaging and rigorous biology lessons that align with curriculum standards and learning objectives.
• Utilize a variety of teaching methods, resources, and technology to create dynamic learning experiences that cater to diverse student needs and learning styles.
• Teach students fundamental concepts in biology, including cell biology, genetics, ecology, evolution, and human anatomy and physiology.
• Lead laboratory experiments, investigations, and field trips to provide students with practical opportunities to apply theoretical knowledge, develop scientific inquiry skills, and cultivate a curiosity about the natural world.
• Foster a collaborative and inquiry-based learning environment where students are encouraged to ask questions, explore scientific phenomena, and develop critical thinking and problem-solving abilities.
• Assess student understanding and progress through a variety of formative and summative assessment methods, and provide timely feedback to support student learning and growth.
• Maintain accurate records of student attendance, assignments, assessments, and grades, and communicate regularly with students, parents, and colleagues about student progress and academic concerns.
• Collaborate with colleagues to develop interdisciplinary units, integrate STEM education initiatives, and participate in departmental meetings, professional development activities, and school events.
• Actively contribute to the school community by participating in extracurricular activities, serving as a mentor or advisor to students, and upholding the school’s values and mission.

Qualifications and Experience:

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Biology, Education, or a related field.
• Teaching certification or licensure preferred.
• Minimum of two years of teaching experience in biology at the secondary level.
• Strong knowledge of biology curriculum frameworks, instructional strategies, and assessment practices.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
• Passion for teaching and a commitment to fostering a positive and inclusive learning environment where all students feel valued, supported, and motivated to succeed.
• Experience with international or IB curriculum preferred.
