This school is based in Hünnenberg, Switzerland and is looking for a High School Art and Design Teacher.

The High School Computer Science and Design Teacher is responsible for planning and implementing a school-aligned instructional program in a learning environment that encourages students to develop their academic and personal potential. Teachers are expected to participate in the Personal Development Programme as a Homeroom Teacher or MYP ‘Core’ Programme teacher, support after-school clubs, activities, or sports, and attend a residential PDW for at least 5 days in term time with students.

Professional Responsibilities:
  • Ensure student safety and well-being is central.
  • Engage reflectively in ongoing growth and improvement.
  • Establish positive, collaborative relationships with colleagues, students, and parents.
  • Contribute to the school’s development through mission-aligned projects.
  • Commit to expanding student options through after-school activities or coaching.

 

Teaching Responsibilities:
  • Teach Computer Science and/or Design courses in the High School (MYP, IBDP, AP, BTEC, and/or ISZL courses).
  • Maintain curriculum documentation for these courses.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to student-centered and inquiry-driven pedagogy.
  • Involve students in planning for their own learning through regular assessment.
  • Plan and implement significant units of work with continuity and progression.
  • Use various teaching strategies and resources to cater to different learning situations, abilities, and styles. UDL planning experience is an advantage.
  • Provide regular, written, formative feedback on student progress.
  • Demonstrate effective classroom management understanding the academic, social, and emotional dimensions of learning.
  • Participate in Personal Development Week and Personal Development Programme (PSHE, Homeroom, or Service as Action).
  • Offer a co-curricular activity or sports team coaching after school.
  • Contribute to the smooth running of the school through regular duties and familiarity with school policies.
  • Lead by example and partner with students in their community engagement.

 

Collaboration and Professional Development:
  • Collaborate with colleagues to ensure departmental and school-wide philosophical alignment.
  • Review, develop, and refine courses with course teams to enhance student learning.
  • Participate in departmental, divisional, and schoolwide meetings.
  • Engage in professional learning and demonstrate professional curiosity.

 

Engaging with Parents and External Community:
  • Engage parents as true partners in the learning process.
  • Keep parents informed about their children’s learning and maintain proactive communication.
  • Display student work to showcase learning and accomplishments.
  • Occasionally present at parent evenings.

 

Required and Preferred Qualifications:
  • Recognised teaching qualification or certification.
