This school is based in Singapore, Singapore and is looking for an Elementary Additional Language (EAL) Teacher.

Position Objective:

Stamford American International School in Singapore seeks a highly qualified English as an Additional Language (EAL) teacher with international education experience to join our team. The EAL Teacher will play a vital role in building and maintaining a successful EAL Program, supporting students with English language needs and facilitating their integration into the English curriculum.

Responsibilities:
  1. Develop and deliver EAL classes and activities, employing diverse teaching strategies such as co-planning, co-teaching, and co-assessing.
  2. Foster positive relationships with students, parents, co-teachers, and teaching assistants to support student learning effectively.
  3. Manage the teaching environment and resources to facilitate optimal learning outcomes.
  4. Collect and analyze data on student performance to monitor English language acquisition progress.
  5. Collaborate with peers to plan curriculum emphasizing trans-disciplinary skills and essential elements of the PYP program.
  6. Participate in professional development activities and contribute to school philosophy and policies.
  7. Assume responsibility for co-curricular activities and emergency situations as needed.
  8. Communicate regularly with parents through meetings, reports, and conferences to review student progress.

 

Extended Professional Role:
  • Promote school and Cognita philosophy and policies.
  • Participate in professional duties outside regular school hours, including field trips and weekend professional development.
  • Supervise students during break/lunch times to ensure their safety.
  • Carry out additional duties as directed by the Superintendent.

 

Position Requirements:
  • Minimum 5 years of EAL teaching experience with relevant qualifications.
  • Curriculum development knowledge required.
  • Intermediate to advanced level of knowledge in Language Acquisition for Multilingual Learners.
  • Proficiency in using educational technology and EAL testing/reporting systems.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Education or equivalent required.
  • Additional qualifications/endorsements for working with English Language Learners required.
  • Master’s degree in Education preferred.
  • WIDA and SIOP Training preferred.
