Early Years Assistant, ELA Basel – The Swiss British School, Switzerland Education Support

This school is based in Basel, Switzerland and is looking for an Early Years Assistant.

ELA Basel – The Swiss British School of Basel is a vibrant international primary school, providing a nurturing family environment for children aged 3 months to 12 years. Located in the heart of Basel, the school serves approximately 350 children and is renowned for its high-quality childcare, small class sizes, creative and dynamic curriculum based on the UK National Curriculum, and a wide range of extra-curricular activities and wrap-around care.

Job Purpose: As an Early Years Assistant, you will support the delivery of high-quality childcare and early education in our day care center. You will work closely with a team of committed professionals to create a stimulating and nurturing environment for young children.

Key Responsibilities:

• Childcare and Education:

  • Support the implementation of the curriculum, ensuring a balance of play-based learning and structured activities.
  • Assist in the planning and organization of daily activities.
  • Provide care and supervision for children, ensuring their safety and wellbeing at all times.
  • Foster a nurturing and inclusive environment that supports the developmental needs of each child.
• Communication and Collaboration:
  • Communicate effectively with children, parents, and colleagues.
  • Work collaboratively with the teaching team to plan and deliver educational activities.
  • Maintain positive relationships with parents and provide regular updates on their child’s progress.
• Administrative Support:
  • Assist with the preparation of materials and resources for daily activities.
  • Maintain accurate records of children’s development and learning.

Candidate Requirements:

• Qualifications and Experience:
  • Qualified childcare specialist with relevant experience in early years education.
  • Fluent in German (mother tongue or C1 level) with a good command of English.
  • Right to work in Switzerland.
• Skills and Attributes:
  • Passionate about working with young children.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
  • Creative, dynamic, and nurturing approach to childcare and education.
