Role Overview
As an Elementary Social Studies Teacher, you will design and deliver engaging lessons that encourage curiosity about the world and its cultures. You will help students connect past and present events, understand civic responsibility, and develop respect for different perspectives. Collaboration with colleagues on curriculum design, integration of digital tools, and participation in extracurricular initiatives will also form a key part of your role.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and teach dynamic Social Studies lessons aligned with the Ontario curriculum.
- Foster critical thinking, inquiry, and active participation in classroom discussions.
- Integrate technology and hands-on projects to deepen student engagement.
- Provide timely feedback and communicate progress to students and parents.
- Collaborate with colleagues on curriculum enrichment and school-wide initiatives.
- Support extracurricular programs that enhance global awareness and cultural learning.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Education, Social Studies, History, Geography, or a related field.
- Valid teaching certification (e.g., QTS, PGCE, OCT, or equivalent).
- At least 2 years of relevant teaching experience.
- Strong knowledge of Social Studies and familiarity with the Ontario curriculum or other international programs.
- Excellent classroom management and communication skills.
- High proficiency in spoken and written English.
- Commitment to professional growth and lifelong learning.
- Ability to thrive in a diverse and multicultural school community.
