Role Summary:

Tema International School is seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated English Teacher to join our dynamic team. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering engaging and comprehensive English language and literature instruction to students across various grade levels. This role offers an exciting opportunity to inspire a love of learning, foster critical thinking skills, and support students in achieving academic success.

Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement engaging and differentiated English language and literature lessons that align with curriculum standards and learning objectives.
  • Foster a supportive and inclusive classroom environment where students feel valued, respected, and motivated to participate in discussions and activities.
  • Teach students to analyze literary texts, write effectively, and communicate fluently in English through a variety of genres, including fiction, non-fiction, poetry, and drama.
  • Provide constructive feedback on student writing and speaking assignments, helping students to improve their language skills and develop their unique voice and style.
  • Incorporate technology and multimedia resources into lessons to enhance learning and engagement, and facilitate student-centered activities and projects.
  • Assess student progress and achievement using a variety of formative and summative assessment methods, and maintain accurate records of student performance.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to develop interdisciplinary units, integrate literacy skills across the curriculum, and support the school’s mission and goals.
  • Communicate regularly with students, parents, and colleagues to provide feedback on student progress, discuss academic concerns, and collaborate on strategies for student success.
  • Participate in department meetings, professional development activities, and school events to contribute to the school community and enhance teaching practice.

 

Qualifications and Experience:
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in English, Education, or a related field.
  • Teaching certification or licensure preferred.
  • Minimum of two years of teaching experience in English language and literature at the primary or secondary level.
  • Strong knowledge of English language arts curriculum frameworks, instructional strategies, and assessment practices.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to differentiate instruction to meet the diverse needs of students and create a positive and inclusive learning environment.
  • Passion for teaching and a commitment to inspiring a love of literature and language in students.
  • Experience with international or IB curriculum preferred.
