This school is based in Amman, Jordan and is looking for a Geology Teacher.

Overview:

Al Ra’ed Al Arabi School is seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable Geology Teacher to join our team. The Geology Teacher will be responsible for delivering high-quality instruction in geology to secondary school students, fostering their curiosity about the Earth’s processes, landforms, and natural resources. This position offers an exciting opportunity to engage students in hands-on learning experiences and inspire a passion for the study of Earth sciences.

Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement a comprehensive curriculum in geology that covers topics such as rocks and minerals, plate tectonics, geological hazards, and environmental geology.
  • Utilize a variety of teaching methods, resources, and technology tools to create dynamic and interactive lessons that cater to students’ diverse learning styles and interests.
  • Conduct laboratory experiments, field trips, and outdoor activities to provide students with practical experiences and reinforce theoretical concepts in geology.
  • Foster critical thinking, inquiry skills, and scientific literacy through discussions, research projects, and collaborative learning activities related to geological phenomena and processes.
  • Integrate real-world examples, case studies, and current events into lesson plans to make geology relevant and engaging for students.
  • Encourage students to explore career opportunities in geology and related fields through guest speakers, career exploration activities, and internship opportunities.
  • Assess student learning and progress using a variety of formative and summative assessment methods, providing constructive feedback to students and parents.
  • Maintain a positive and supportive learning environment where students feel encouraged to ask questions, express their ideas, and explore their interests in geology.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to align curriculum goals, share resources, and participate in professional development activities to enhance teaching effectiveness and student learning outcomes.

 

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Geology, Earth Sciences, or a related field. Master’s degree preferred.
  • Teaching certification or qualification in Science Education or Geology.
  • Previous experience teaching geology or earth science courses at the secondary school level.
  • Strong knowledge of geological principles, processes, and concepts, with the ability to communicate complex ideas effectively to students.
  • Enthusiasm for teaching and inspiring students to develop a deeper understanding and appreciation of the Earth’s natural systems and resources.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
