This school is based in Amman, Jordan and is looking for a History Geography Teacher.

Overview:

Amman French School is seeking a passionate and experienced History Geography Teacher to join our dynamic team. The History Geography Teacher will be responsible for delivering comprehensive and engaging instruction in history and geography to students at the secondary level. This position offers an exciting opportunity to inspire curiosity, critical thinking, and global awareness among students in a multicultural learning environment.

Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement effective lesson plans and learning activities that align with the school’s curriculum and educational objectives for history and geography subjects.
  • Teach a range of topics in history and geography, covering key concepts, events, geographic regions, and historical periods, using a variety of instructional strategies, resources, and technology tools.
  • Foster students’ understanding of historical events, geographic features, cultural diversity, and global perspectives, encouraging inquiry, analysis, and reflection.
  • Promote active participation, collaboration, and discussion in the classroom, engaging students in meaningful dialogue, debates, projects, and research assignments related to history and geography topics.
  • Integrate multimedia resources, primary sources, maps, charts, and other instructional materials to enhance students’ learning experiences and deepen their understanding of historical and geographical concepts.
  • Assess student learning and progress through formative and summative assessments, providing timely and constructive feedback to students on their academic performance and areas for improvement.
  • Create a supportive and inclusive learning environment where all students feel valued, respected, and empowered to express their ideas, opinions, and cultural identities.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to develop interdisciplinary projects, thematic units, and cross-curricular connections that integrate history and geography with other subjects and real-world issues.
  • Stay informed about current events, historical developments, and geographic trends, incorporating relevant and timely topics into the curriculum to make learning relevant and meaningful for students.
  • Participate in professional development activities, workshops, and conferences to enhance teaching skills, content knowledge, and pedagogical practices in history and geography education.
  • Communicate effectively with students, parents, and colleagues, providing regular updates on curriculum, assignments, assessments, and student progress, and addressing any concerns or questions in a timely manner.
  • Adhere to school policies, procedures, and guidelines for classroom management, behavior expectations, and student safety, promoting a positive and respectful learning environment for all students.

 

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in History, Geography, Education, or a related field. Master’s degree preferred.
  • Teaching certification or qualification in Secondary Education with a specialization in history and geography.
  • Proven experience teaching history and geography subjects at the secondary level, with strong knowledge of curriculum development, instructional strategies, and assessment practices.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to engage students in meaningful dialogue, discussions, and debates about historical and geographical topics.
  • Passion for history, geography, and global studies, with a commitment to fostering students’ critical thinking skills, cultural awareness, and appreciation for diverse perspectives.
  • Creativity, flexibility, and adaptability, with the ability to design and implement innovative and interactive lessons that capture students’ interest and curiosity.
  • Collaborative spirit, teamwork, and professionalism, with the ability to work effectively with colleagues, students, parents, and administrators in a multicultural environment.
