Role: Head of English
As Head of English, you will:
- Lead and manage the English department, ensuring outstanding teaching and learning practices
- Inspire students with dynamic lessons in IGCSE English Language and Literature
- Deliver the National Curriculum for England with clarity, creativity, and cultural awareness
- Mentor colleagues and support curriculum development across Key Stages
- Organize co-curricular initiatives such as World Book Day, Poetry Week, and national writing competitions
- Differentiate instruction for students with English as an Additional Language (EAL)
- Monitor student progress using data and lead targeted interventions
Qualifications & Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in English or related field
- PGCE or UK-recognized teaching qualification
- Minimum of 3 years’ teaching experience in an international or British curriculum school
- Proven track record of success in IGCSE English Language and Literature
- Experience working with AQA, Edexcel, or CAIE exam boards preferred
- Strong communication, leadership, and mentoring skills
- Committed to professional development and department-wide improvement
- Ability to teach an additional subject is an advantage
