This school is based in Barcelona, Spain and is looking for a Secondary Teacher of Mathematics.

The British School of Barcelona (BSB) is a leading educational institution known for providing exceptional learning experiences. Situated in an area rich with historical sites, BSB offers a unique opportunity to integrate local history into the curriculum, enhancing students’ understanding and appreciation of the subject.

Position Overview: We are seeking a highly qualified and passionate Teacher of History for a temporary position starting in September 2024. The successful candidate will teach History at GCSE, A level, and as part of the IB Diploma. There will also be opportunities to teach Politics or Business for suitable applicants. This role will involve making the most of local historical sites for educational visits.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Deliver engaging and challenging History lessons to all key stages, linking content to real-world applications and aligning with department schemes of work.
  • Assist in curriculum development and delivery of a high-quality History program across all key stages.
  • Use homework and assessments to monitor and track pupil progress, identifying and supporting underachieving students while challenging high achievers and implementing necessary interventions.
  • Provide feedback and communicate effectively with parents, ensuring they are aware of student strengths and targets throughout the academic year.
  • Work collaboratively with department members to continually improve the thriving History department.
  • Work with colleagues and members of the Senior Leadership Team (SLT) to ensure effective implementation of school improvement plan priorities.

 

Required Qualifications:
  • UK qualifications and relevant experience teaching at Key Stage 3, GCSE, A level, or IB, either in the UK or overseas.
  • Commitment to the wider life of the school and participation in our enrichment program.

 

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Ability to contribute to the teaching of Politics or Business.
