Role Overview
The IB MYP/DP Chemistry Teacher will deliver engaging and conceptually rich chemistry lessons aligned with the IB framework. The teacher will guide students through scientific inquiry, laboratory exploration, and independent research while fostering curiosity and analytical thinking. Collaboration with the science department and cross-disciplinary teaching are key aspects of the role.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and implement chemistry lessons aligned with the IB MYP and DP curriculum.
- Foster an inquiry-based classroom that encourages scientific exploration.
- Guide students through laboratory experiments and internal assessments.
- Prepare students for IB DP Chemistry examinations with rigor and support.
- Integrate digital tools and technology to enhance student engagement.
- Encourage critical thinking, problem-solving, and ethical awareness in science.
- Collaborate with colleagues to develop interdisciplinary projects.
- Maintain open communication with parents and contribute to school initiatives.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Chemistry, Science Education, or a related field.
- Valid teaching certification (QTS, PGCE, or equivalent).
- Minimum of 3 years of teaching experience, preferably in an IB MYP/DP setting.
- Strong understanding of IB Chemistry standards and assessment criteria.
- Excellent classroom management and communication skills.
- High proficiency in spoken and written English.
- Proactive, reflective, and passionate about science education.
- Ability to integrate modern technology and digital tools into teaching.
