Westlink International School Hanoi (WIS) is a co-educational day school that opened in 2022 in the Tay Ho Tay (West Lake) urban area. It is a member of the International Schools Partnership (ISP), a global network of over 80 schools. The school serves students from Early Years (age 4) to Grade 12. It is an authorized IB World School for the Primary Years Programme (PYP) and a candidate school for the Middle Years (MYP) and Diploma (DP) programmes.

Role Overview

The ideal candidate is a motivated and experienced individual to fill the role of IB MYP Science Teacher. This position demands a dedicated educator who can effectively design, manage, and deliver high-standard science instruction within the IB framework. You will lead a dynamic learning environment, primarily delivering the IB Middle Years Programme (MYP) science curriculum while supporting the school’s transition through the candidacy phase.

Key Responsibilities

• Plan and teach high-quality, engaging Science lessons that align fully with the IB MYP curriculum framework and WIS standards.
• Develop and execute inquiry-based units of work that promote conceptual understanding and the practical application of scientific theories.
• Direct and supervise safe, rigorous laboratory experiments and student-led research projects.
• Assess student progress consistently using IB MYP criteria to track academic growth and provide personalized feedback for student development.
• Maintain a safe, positive, and inclusive classroom environment that encourages students to investigate real-world scientific challenges and global issues.
• Collaborate consistently with department colleagues and the IB Coordinator to refine curriculum delivery and ensure vertical alignment.
• Communicate effectively with parents to build strong partnerships and provide regular updates on student academic achievement and well-being.
• Utilize new technologies, such as digital sensors, simulations, and data-logging software, to enhance the quality of instruction and data analysis.
• Proactively enrich the curriculum by leading wider school initiatives, such as science fairs, STEM clubs, or environmental sustainability projects.
• Commit to ongoing professional growth by participating in school-wide training and official IB professional development workshops.

Qualification

• Education: Hold a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a Science field (Biology, Chemistry, Physics) or Science Education.
• Certification: Possess a valid teaching license or official certification (e.g., QTS, PGCE, or equivalent) for secondary education.
• Experience: Demonstrate a minimum of 3 years of hands-on experience in a secondary Science position, ideally within an IB MYP setting.
• Curriculum Knowledge: Show strong familiarity with international curricula, specifically the IB Middle Years Programme framework.
• Professional Skills: Maintain excellent classroom management and superb communication and collaboration skills.
• Language Proficiency: Be highly proficient in spoken and written English.
• Technical Ability: Demonstrate the ability to use modern technologies to enhance the quality of teaching and learning for all students.
• Personal Attributes: Be independent, self-motivated, and proactive in enriching the school community and developing wider school initiatives.
