Role Overview: IB PYP English Teacher
As an IB PYP English Teacher, you will inspire young learners to explore language through reading, writing, speaking, and listening. Your teaching will help students develop strong communication skills and a deep appreciation for literature and storytelling. This role involves designing lessons that align with the PYP framework and collaborating closely with colleagues on cross-curricular units.
Responsibilities
- Deliver engaging English language lessons that follow the IB PYP philosophy
- Foster literacy development and a love for reading among primary students
- Collaborate with fellow teachers to plan and implement interdisciplinary units
- Monitor student learning and provide personalized feedback
- Use formative and summative assessments to guide instruction
- Communicate with parents to support student progress
- Contribute to curriculum development and school events
- Create a classroom environment that supports inquiry, creativity, and student agency
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in English, Education, or a related field
- Valid teaching certification (e.g., QTS, PGCE, or equivalent)
- Minimum 2 years of classroom experience, preferably in an IB or international setting
- In-depth knowledge of language acquisition and early literacy instruction
- Strong classroom management and communication skills
- High level of English fluency in both written and spoken form
- Demonstrated enthusiasm for teaching in a multicultural, inclusive environment
- Ability to integrate technology into the learning experience
