Role Overview: IB PYP Music Teacher
As an IB PYP Music Teacher, you will develop and lead engaging music lessons that encourage exploration, performance, and creativity. You will guide students in using music as a form of expression and collaboration while helping them connect musical learning with global perspectives.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver high-quality music instruction aligned with the IB PYP curriculum
- Foster students’ musical understanding through singing, instruments, movement, and composition
- Plan integrated, inquiry-driven units that incorporate music and interdisciplinary themes
- Prepare students for performances and school events
- Collaborate with colleagues to support curriculum development
- Promote a classroom environment that values student voice and creativity
- Communicate with parents and contribute to school life beyond the classroom
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Music Education or a related field
- Valid teaching certification (QTS, PGCE, or equivalent)
- Minimum of 2 years of music teaching experience, preferably in an international or IB setting
- Strong knowledge of music pedagogy and child development
- Effective classroom management and communication skills
- High proficiency in English (spoken and written)
- Self-motivated, collaborative, and committed to professional growth
- Experience integrating technology into music instruction is a plus
