Role Overview
The ideal candidate is a motivated and experienced individual to fill the role of IGCSE Art Teacher. This specialist position demands a dedicated educator who can effectively design, manage, and deliver engaging, high-standard lessons across various secondary levels.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and teach high-quality, rigorous Art and Design units across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4. Align instruction strictly with the Cambridge International syllabi requirements and MIGS’s academic standards.
- Develop and execute practical and conceptual projects that promote strong technical proficiency, creative risk-taking, sustained investigation, and strong examination technique essential for success in IGCSE assessments.
- Guide IGCSE students meticulously through the development and presentation of their portfolios and final art projects.
- Assess student learning consistently using formative and summative tools, strictly aligned with Cambridge examination requirements and moderation standards. Provide timely, constructive critique to drive measurable improvement.
- Collaborate consistently with department colleagues and the Head of Secondary on curriculum planning, moderation, resource development, and studio management.
- Maintain a safe, highly organized, and professional studio environment, ensuring the effective management and care of art materials and equipment.
- Actively participate in professional development sessions and proactively contribute to enriching the extracurricular program and wider school initiatives.
- Use new technologies and diverse learning resources to enhance the quality of teaching and learning for all students.
Qualifications
- Education: Hold a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Fine Arts, Art Education, Secondary Education (Art focus), or a closely related creative field.
- Certification: Possess a valid teaching license or official certification (QTS, PGCE, or equivalent) specifically for Secondary teaching.
- Experience: Demonstrate a minimum of 3 years of hands-on experience teaching Secondary Art and Design, with significant, verified experience teaching Cambridge IGCSE Art and Design syllabi being mandatory.
- Curriculum Knowledge: Show strong, demonstrated knowledge of the Cambridge IGCSE Art and Design syllabus and its complex assessment requirements.
- Skills: Maintain excellent classroom/studio management and superb communication skills.
- Language: Be highly proficient in spoken and written English.
