Instrumental Music Teacher, Stamford American International School, Singapore Teacher

This school is based in Singapore, Singapore and is looking for an Instrumental Music Teacher.

Position Objective:

Our Instrumental Music Teachers play a vital role in establishing and sustaining a thriving music program within the school. Responsibilities include teaching instrumental techniques, performance skills, music theory, and musical awareness to students aged 3 through 18. Collaboration with curriculum staff for IB PYP, MYP, DP, AP, and BTEC programs, as well as supporting the school’s Music Ensemble Program, is integral to the role.

Responsibilities:

Music:

• Plan, prepare, and deliver lessons for various ages and abilities.
• Provide one-on-one instrumental lessons.
• Develop tailored curriculum aligned with Stamford, Student, and Parent goals.
• Introduce cultural aspects of music related to the nationalities represented at the school.
• Evaluate and document student progress.
• Collaborate with a team of musicians to plan and build the curriculum.
• Work closely with grade level teachers and other identified individuals for optimal student support.
• Support the Music Ensemble Program, school soirees, and larger concerts/productions.

Duties:

• Uphold and promote the school’s ethos.
• Deliver high-quality instrumental lessons to individuals and small groups.
• Monitor and record individual pupil progress, providing feedback to parents and teachers.
• Assist with the preparation and performance of examination pieces and concerts.
• Remain professional and adhere to school policies.
• Communicate regularly with Stamford Personnel and Parents.
• Assist in scheduling individual lesson times.
• Perform any other reasonable duties delegated by the Head of Music and the Superintendent.

Position Requirements:

• Open to Singaporeans, Singapore Permanent Residents, and self-employed work pass holders.
• Flexible hours during school time (7:00 am – 18:30 pm, Monday – Friday).
• Bachelor’s Degree, preferably in Music/Music Performance.
• Suzuki Training & Registration (Suzuki position only).
• Minimum 5 years of experience as an instrumental teacher with relevant qualifications.
• Experience with Trinity and/or Abrsm music examinations.
• Highly developed interpersonal and teamwork skills.
• Excellent verbal and written English skills.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s Degree, preferably in Music/Music Performance.
• Relevant Teaching Qualifications.
