This school is based in Cape Town, South Africa and is looking for a Part Time Remedial Teacher.

Job Summary: The Part Time Remedial Teacher will provide specialized instruction and support to students with learning difficulties and special educational needs. The teacher will work closely with students, parents, and colleagues to develop and implement effective teaching strategies that address individual learning challenges.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Individualized Instruction: Provide one-on-one or small group instruction tailored to the specific needs of students with learning difficulties.
  • Assessment: Conduct assessments to identify students’ learning needs and monitor their progress.
  • Curriculum Development: Develop and adapt curriculum materials to meet the individual needs of students.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with classroom teachers, parents, and other specialists to support student learning.
  • Progress Monitoring: Regularly assess and document student progress, adjusting instructional strategies as needed.
  • Student Support: Foster a supportive and inclusive learning environment that encourages student confidence and independence.
  • Professional Development: Stay updated on best practices in remedial education and participate in relevant professional development opportunities.

 

Qualifications:
  • Education: Bachelor’s Degree is required.
  • Certifications: At least one of the following certifications is required: Remedial, SEN Teacher, Special Teacher of Reading, or Reading Coach.
  • Experience: Prior experience working with students with learning difficulties or special educational needs is preferred.
  • Skills: Strong understanding of differentiated instruction, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work collaboratively with a team.
