Role Overview
The MS/HS ELA Teacher will create engaging lessons that develop reading comprehension, writing proficiency, and critical analysis skills. This teacher will help students explore literature, improve their grammar and vocabulary, and express themselves with clarity and confidence. Beyond classroom teaching, the role involves mentoring students, collaborating with colleagues, and contributing to school-wide initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
- Teach English Language Arts to middle and high school students
- Develop lessons that enhance reading, writing, speaking, and analytical skills
- Encourage creativity and a love of literature across multiple genres
- Assess student learning and provide constructive feedback
- Collaborate with colleagues to support interdisciplinary learning
- Contribute to extracurricular programs, clubs, or school events
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in English, Education, or a related field
- Valid teaching license or certification (QTS, PGCE, or equivalent)
- Minimum of three years of teaching experience in ELA or a related subject
- Strong knowledge of English literature, grammar, and writing instruction
- Classroom management and excellent communication skills
- Commitment to professional development and lifelong learning
- Ability to integrate technology into teaching and learning
- Enthusiasm for working with a diverse international school community
