Role Overview

The ideal candidate is a motivated and experienced individual to fill the role of MS/HS English Teacher. This position demands a dedicated educator who can effectively design, manage, and deliver high-standard literacy and literature instruction across the Middle Years Programme (MYP) and Diploma Programme (DP). You will lead a dynamic learning environment that prioritizes student agency and critical inquiry into diverse texts.

Key Responsibilities

• Plan and teach high-quality, engaging English lessons that align fully with the IB MYP and DP curriculum frameworks.
• Develop and execute inquiry-based units of work that promote the deep analysis of diverse literary and non-literary texts within global contexts.
• Mentor students through the IB English Internal Assessments and provide expert guidance on the Extended Essay (EE) where applicable.
• Assess student progress consistently using IB criteria to track academic growth and provide personalized feedback for examination preparation.
• Maintain a positive, safe, and inclusive classroom environment that encourages students to express original ideas and engage in high-level academic debate.
• Collaborate consistently with department colleagues and the IB Coordinator to refine curriculum delivery and ensure interdisciplinary alignment.
• Communicate effectively with parents to build strong partnerships and provide regular updates on student academic achievement and well-being.
• Utilize new technologies, specifically Google for Education tools, to enhance the quality of teaching and facilitate collaborative learning.
• Proactively enrich the curriculum by leading wider school initiatives, such as debate clubs, student publications, or creative writing workshops.
• Commit to ongoing professional growth by participating in school-wide training and official IB professional development workshops.

Qualification

• Education: Hold a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in English Literature, English Language, or a related field of education.
• Certification: Possess a valid teaching license or official certification (e.g., QTS, PGCE, or equivalent) for secondary education.
• Experience: Demonstrate a minimum of 3 years of hands-on experience in a secondary English teaching position, ideally within an IB setting.
• Curriculum Knowledge: Show strong familiarity with the International Baccalaureate MYP or DP frameworks.
• Professional Skills: Maintain excellent classroom management and superb communication and collaboration skills.
• Language Proficiency: Be highly proficient in spoken and written English.
• Technical Ability: Demonstrate the ability to use modern technologies, particularly Google for Education tools, to enhance teaching and learning.
• Personal Attributes: Be independent, self-motivated, and proactive in enriching the school community and developing wider school initiatives.
