About Island Waldorf School (IWS)
Island Waldorf School is a non-profit, bilingual international school located on Hong Kong Island. As the first Waldorf school established in this area, IWS serves children aged 1–14 through playgroups, kindergarten, and Grades 1–8. The school follows Rudolf Steiner’s Waldorf philosophy, emphasizing age-appropriate, experiential, and child-centered learning.
With campuses in Kennedy Town and Shek Tong Tsui, IWS integrates academics, arts, and practical experiences to nurture children’s intellectual, emotional, and physical development. The school community values creativity, imagination, and strong connections between teachers, parents, and students.
Role Overview
The Primary English Teacher will guide students in developing strong literacy and communication skills while encouraging creativity and self-expression. The role requires a teacher who can deliver engaging lessons, foster curiosity, and create a supportive classroom environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Teach English language and literature to primary students.
- Develop age-appropriate, engaging lesson plans aligned with Waldorf principles.
- Foster a love for reading, writing, and storytelling.
- Support students’ holistic growth, including social-emotional development.
- Collaborate with colleagues to design cross-curricular projects.
- Communicate regularly with parents to support each child’s learning journey.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in English, Education, or a related field.
- Valid teaching certification (QTS, PGCE, or equivalent).
- Minimum of 3 years of relevant teaching experience.
- Familiarity with international or Waldorf curricula preferred.
- Strong classroom management and communication skills.
- Passion for working in a diverse, bilingual school community.
- High proficiency in spoken and written English.
- Ability to integrate technology to enhance teaching and learning.
