Role Overview: Primary Humanities & Social Sciences Teacher
As the HASS teacher, you will lead the delivery of engaging social sciences and humanities content to primary students. You will foster critical thinking, global awareness, and ethical understanding while encouraging student inquiry and collaboration. Your role will contribute directly to our goal of shaping well-rounded, empathetic global citizens.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver HASS curriculum aligned with the Australian (Victorian) standards
- Create inclusive and differentiated lesson plans to meet diverse learner needs
- Develop engaging learning experiences around history, geography, civics, and cultural studies
- Assess student understanding and provide clear, constructive feedback
- Collaborate with homeroom teachers, therapists, and arts specialists to support integrated learning
- Promote student voice, agency, and inquiry in the classroom
- Participate in school events, field trips, and cross-disciplinary projects
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Education, Social Sciences, or a related field
- Recognized teaching certification (QTS, PGCE, or equivalent)
- At least 2 years of teaching experience in a similar role
- Familiarity with the Australian or UK curriculum is highly desirable
- Strong communication and classroom management skills
- Proficient in English, both written and spoken
- Demonstrated ability to build strong relationships with students, staff, and families
- Proactive in professional development and school initiatives
- Comfortable using technology to enhance teaching and learning
