This school is based in Bangalore, India and is looking for a PYP Teacher

Key Roles and Responsibilities

  • Implement the IB PYP for all of our students while also recognizing their specific cultural and individual language needs within a community that values working towards a sustainable future.

Teaching and Learning:

  • Engage students as inquirers in their learning progression
  • Develop students’ cognitive, creative, critical thinking and reflection skills
  • Foster students’ self-esteem, motivation and social responsibility
  • Empower students to become independent learners
  • Maintain an atmosphere and relationship with students conducive to learning while fostering confidence and resilience
  • Design, prepare and deliver high quality learning and teaching to suit the individual needs of all students in line with TISB’s Vision, Mission and Values and the IB PYP
  • Make use of the natural environment and setting at TISB for authentic learning experiences
  • Develop a learning environment to reflect best practice in contemporary pedagogy
  • Scaffold language development for all students
  • Work collaboratively and maintain positive, supportive relationships and open communication with students, parents and colleagues as we work together striving for excellence
  • Plan collaboratively to prepare Unit Plans and lessons which aligns with PYP

Standards and Practices

  • Work with colleagues to ensure continuity and progression in the curriculum
  • Integrate various strategies into teaching and learning to enhance individual and collaborative learning where appropriate

Assessment and Reporting:

  • Use appropriate formative and summative assessments to plan for the differing needs of learners in the class
  • Assess and monitor student progress providing constructive feedback to ensure all students improve and succeed
  • Communicate effectively with families regarding the curriculum and student development through portfolios, reports and conferences as required

Professional Learning:

  • Actively participate in the TISB teacher induction appraisal process
  • Engage purpose fully in professional development and collaborative planning to improve performance and enhance student learning
  • Develop knowledge and skills related to the IB PYP Programme, contemporary pedagogy and IT

Student life beyond the classroom:

  • Actively supervise students as per the School duty roster
  • Participate and support a co-curricular programme activity for each term under the broad areas of creativity, action and service aimed at supporting students engagement, leadership and skill development
  • Actively take part in House and sporting activities, trips, residential camps and support school events
  • Support community activities throughout the year

General:

  • Contribute to the ongoing development of an environment of safety and in which every child can flourish
  • Conduct oneself professionally, operating at all times in line with TISB’s Vision,

Mission, Values and policies

  • Demonstrate a willingness to communicate openly, calmly and professionally as part of the Prep School team
  • Be an active, positive participant in collaborative training, planning and meetings
  • Meet deadlines set by the Principal, Deputy Principal and PYP Coordinator
