Role: Secondary Design and Technology Teacher
As a Secondary Design and Technology Teacher, you will deliver engaging lessons that combine theoretical knowledge with hands-on projects. You will help students develop problem-solving skills, technical expertise, and creativity through practical design challenges.
Key Responsibilities:
- Teach Design and Technology at Key Stages 3 and 4, following the British National Curriculum.
- Introduce students to design processes, materials, and manufacturing techniques.
- Utilize CAD software, 3D printing, and digital tools to enhance learning experiences.
- Guide students through practical design projects, ensuring they develop technical and analytical skills.
- Encourage students to explore sustainable design principles and engineering innovations.
- Assess student progress, provide constructive feedback, and support academic development.
- Maintain a safe and organized workshop environment, ensuring proper use of tools and equipment.
- Collaborate with colleagues and school leadership to enhance the Design and Technology curriculum.
- Support extracurricular activities such as STEM clubs, design competitions, and maker fairs.
Qualifications & Requirements:
- Degree in Design and Technology, Product Design, Engineering, or a related field.
- Recognized teaching qualification (e.g., PGCE, QTS).
- Experience teaching Design and Technology at secondary school level (preferred).
- Strong understanding of design processes, engineering concepts, and materials technology.
- Proficiency in CAD software, 3D printing, laser cutting, and digital fabrication tools (preferred).
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to inspire creativity and innovation.
- Strong organizational and classroom management skills to support practical project-based learning.
- Passion for student success, problem-solving, and design innovation.
- Commitment to continuous professional development and staying updated with industry trends.
