Role: Secondary Design and Technology Teacher
As a Secondary Design and Technology Teacher, you will play a pivotal role in developing students’ technical skills, creativity, and engineering knowledge. You will guide them in understanding materials, design principles, and modern technological applications.
Key Responsibilities
- Teach Design and Technology at Key Stages 3, 4, and 5, following the National Curriculum for England.
- Deliver hands-on, project-based lessons that integrate technical skills, problem-solving, and creativity.
- Encourage students to explore innovative design concepts and develop practical prototypes.
- Introduce modern technology such as 3D modeling, CAD software, and digital fabrication.
- Promote critical thinking and engineering principles, ensuring students apply design solutions to real-world challenges.
- Assess student progress, providing constructive feedback to enhance learning and technical proficiency.
- Collaborate with colleagues to refine teaching methods and develop an engaging curriculum.
- Ensure a safe and inclusive classroom environment, fostering creativity and teamwork.
Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Design and Technology, Industrial Design, Engineering, or a related field.
- Recognized teaching qualification such as BEd, PGCE, QTS, or equivalent.
- Minimum of two years’ experience teaching Design and Technology at the secondary school level.
- Strong understanding of design principles, engineering concepts, and hands-on technical applications.
- Proficiency in CAD software, 3D modeling, and modern manufacturing techniques (preferred).
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to inspire and engage students.
- Commitment to innovative teaching practices that enhance student creativity and critical thinking.
- Dedication to safeguarding and promoting student well-being.
- Collaborative and adaptable approach, working effectively within a diverse school community.
