Role Overview
As a Secondary EAL Teacher, you will provide specialized English language instruction and support to students whose first language is not English. You will collaborate closely with classroom teachers to design strategies that enhance language acquisition, academic achievement, and confidence in both written and spoken English.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and deliver engaging EAL lessons aligned with IB and school standards
- Assess students’ language proficiency and track their progress
- Support subject teachers in differentiating instruction for multilingual learners
- Create an inclusive classroom that values linguistic and cultural diversity
- Foster students’ communication skills and academic vocabulary
- Engage parents and staff in supporting student learning goals
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Education, TESOL, Linguistics, or a related field
- Valid teaching license or certification (QTS, PGCE, or equivalent)
- Minimum of 3 years of teaching experience in EAL or ESL
- Knowledge of the IB program and international curricula
- Excellent classroom management and communication skills
- Strong commitment to student growth and professional development
- Proficiency in English (spoken and written)
- Ability to use technology to enhance learning outcomes
