Role Overview: Secondary EAL Teacher

As a Secondary EAL (English as an Additional Language) Teacher, you will support students in Grades 6–12 who are developing English language proficiency. You will design engaging lessons that build language skills across reading, writing, speaking, and listening while integrating subject-specific vocabulary and academic content. Collaboration with classroom teachers and the student support team is essential to help learners meet curriculum expectations and achieve academic success.

Key Responsibilities

• Plan and deliver differentiated EAL instruction for middle and high school students
• Assess language proficiency and track student progress using multiple tools
• Collaborate with subject teachers to integrate language support across the curriculum
• Provide individual and small-group interventions where needed
• Foster student confidence, independence, and active participation in class
• Engage in ongoing professional development and contribute to school initiatives

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Education, TESOL, Applied Linguistics, or a related field
• Valid teaching certification (e.g., QTS, PGCE, B.Ed.)
• At least 3 years of EAL or ESL teaching experience, preferably in an international or IB setting
• Strong understanding of second language acquisition and language differentiation strategies
• Excellent communication and classroom management skills
• Commitment to cultural sensitivity and inclusive practices
• Proficiency in English and comfort using educational technology tools
