Role Overview

The ideal candidate is a motivated and experienced individual to fill the role of Secondary English Teacher. This position demands a dedicated educator who can effectively design, manage, and deliver a rigorous English curriculum. You will lead a dynamic learning environment, primarily delivering a program that follows the English National Curriculum and prepares students for IGCSE and A-Level success.

Key Responsibilities

• Plan and teach high-quality, engaging English lessons that align fully with the English National Curriculum and Cambridge/Pearson Edexcel specifications.
• Develop and execute instructional units that promote inquiry-based learning and the deep analysis of diverse literary texts.
• Assess student progress consistently using formative and summative tools to track academic growth and provide personalized feedback for examination preparation.
• Maintain a positive, safe, and inclusive classroom environment that encourages students to investigate complex themes and express original ideas with confidence.
• Collaborate consistently with department colleagues to refine curriculum delivery and share innovative teaching strategies across the secondary phase.
• Communicate effectively with parents to build strong partnerships and provide regular updates on student academic achievement and well-being.
• Utilize new technologies, such as collaborative writing platforms and digital libraries, to enhance the quality of teaching and learning.
• Proactively enrich the curriculum by leading wider school initiatives, such as debate clubs, student magazines, or creative writing workshops.
• Commit to ongoing professional growth by participating in school-wide training and international professional development workshops.
• Build strong relationships with students and colleagues to support the holistic growth of the CSB community.

Qualification

• Education: Hold a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in English Literature, English Language, or a related field of education.
• Certification: Possess a valid teaching license or official certification (e.g., QTS, PGCE, or equivalent) for secondary education.
• Experience: Demonstrate a minimum of 3 years of hands-on experience in a secondary English teaching position.
• Curriculum Knowledge: Show strong familiarity with the English National Curriculum and IGCSE/A-Level frameworks.
• Professional Skills: Maintain excellent classroom management and superb communication and collaboration skills.
• Language Proficiency: Be highly proficient in spoken and written English.
• Technical Ability: Demonstrate the ability to use modern technologies to enhance the quality of teaching and learning for all students.
• Personal Attributes: Be independent, self-motivated, and proactive in enriching the school community and developing wider school initiatives.
